Mrs. Muffin's Cream Tea in Ledbury

I read about Mrs. Muffin's Teashop in the book AA Britain's Best Afternoon Tea. This tearoom is located in the Herefordshire town of Ledbury. We stopped for cream tea on Monday afternoon on our return to Campden from Wales. Mrs. Muffin's is located on Church Street. Usually you just look for the church and that is Church Street. It was a little more tricky in Ledbury because Church Street was actually a cobblestone walkway off the old market. I asked for directions at the Tourist Information Center and we were within less than a block of the tearoom. We were greeted and given a choice of sitting in one of the two cosy interior rooms (seats 36 total) or in the garden. We chose the garden seating. The weather was nice when we arrived but the rain started to fall (again!) just as we finished our tea. We enjoyed chatting with a local couple also seated in the garden. The gentleman told us where he was from, the jam goes on the scone before the clotted cream. We could debate that one forever!
Notice in the photo Mrs. Muffin's cream tea included one plain scone and one fruit scone, and both are sprinkled with powdered sugar. The generous portions of clotted cream and jam were for the 3 of us.
