I saw an interview with Candy Spelling on Good Morning America promoting her new book and talking about her plan to down-size from her huge house to a "small" 17,000 square-foot house. Candy Spelling has concluded she is a hoarder. She showed various collections stored away in special storage rooms as large as her new down-sized house.
I started thinking about my many tea things and wondered at what point does a hobby become hoarding?!? Oh my, I believe I'll just make myself a cup of tea and not think about that thought-provoking question!

I know what you mean, but I did have to face it.

what? never with tea items! Of course, my husband would disagree with all my craft stuff! haha.

Hoarding, I hadn't thought of that. Oh no, I need a cup of tea to think on those things also.
Loved the white dinner plate idea for a charger. I will keep that in mind, not that I need more plates in my house.
I think hoarding is a desire to obtain objects for material reasons. example: I have +++ number of tea pots but you have them stored away out of sight and don't even know one from the other.
A collection is a number of items that you love, enjoy and know you will treasure for always.
So, I think you are a collector.
Candy Spelling is not a favorite of mine so I wouldn't compare you to her at all...I consider you a collector...a hoarder reminds me of someone who can't walk through their house because of their collection... :-)
I'm with Melissa: A hoarder is the 90-year-old lady with 33 cats who hasn't thrown away a newspaper since Roosevelt was president. That is NOT you! (Or, ahem, your fellow collectors!)
By the way, I was hoping you were about to say that Candy wanted to bequeath her mansion to a bunch of tea bloggers! Hope springs eternal...
