Tea Towels

OK, if you read yesterday's post, you know that I am not, and that none of my fellow tea bloggers/tea collectors are hoarders. We are merely collectors of many tea things, craft supplies, kitchen gadgets, and whatever else we enjoy!

Angela at Tea With Friends, collects, and often shares with her blog readers, lovely vintage tea linen finds. I don't have any of the vintage tea-themed linens she has, but I do have a few linen tea towels. The blue one above is one of four alike I purchased on my first trip to Scotland in 1995 at a National Trust Shop.

The next two below were sent to me in an online tea group gift exchange several years ago.

The last one, is a souvenir from a delightful afternoon tea we enjoyed at Miss Mable's Tea Room in Dickson, TN.

Each of these tea towels provide memories for me of special tea places and tea friends.

Very nice, Linda! Now, do you use them? That's what I always struggle I use them and enjoy them and risk them being stained? Or do they sit in a cabinet? I tend to use them...but I'm never quite sure if it's the right choice. :-)

It is very interesting that you asked this question because I wrote the entire post about the fact that I don't used these tea towels then changed the post.

I have cotton tea themed kitchen towels I use every day. They are never the same after they are used. Yes, many are stained and some have ended up in the rag bag!

These are just gorgeous, and no, I don't have any like them. Doesn't it amaze you that we all love so many of the same things and yet we have VERY little overlap? That's one reason I so love seeing everyone's collections! Great fun!

Have you heard that Miss Mable's is closing at the end of June? I know of so many people who have enjoyed tea there...wish I could have been one of them.

I use my tea towels, but usually as a table covering on my c***** table when I set up a Tea for Two.

No! I had not heard about Miss Mabel's closing. That is sad news for us tea room lovers!

I just love tea towels. As I don't have a home of my own yet tea towels are a great thing to buy from trips and can easily be stored away.

Thank you for the birthday wishes,

Victoria xx

That's a lovely post Linda.

I do tend to use my fancy tea towels but I have one a friend sent me that had a lovely friendship poem on it that I couldn't bring myself to use. I'm glad I didn't because she died a year after she sent it to me.

That is a lovely collection of tea towels. It's nice that you have one from Miss Mable's. I'd love to have tea there before she closes.
