In addition to working on our house and making preparations for the October 17th fund raiser tea, our time has been consumed with soccer games and practice. AJ is playing on 2 teams, middle school and a recreational league. At least 4 games a week and practice multiple times a day some days. AJ loves soccer! Yesterday, we drove 45 minutes to out of town games.

I observed an interesting bit of multi-tasking at the two games yesterday...

Text messaging has become a priority for many young people, but....

...can a person text message and pay attention to their work at the same time?

In my opinion, the answer is — NO. This young lady text messaged while refereeing two middle school games yesterday.

We have all heard a lot of discussion recently about banning text messaging during driving.... but, in my opinion, some of the places I have observed workers text messaging recently not only makes work inefficient, it is downright rude.

This would frost me. Shows how little regard she has for the game and the players and sends a poor message to the young players. Enough calls get missed when the refs are attentive-she is showing she is doing just for the paycheck. Having had 3 children play multiple sports including a daughter play college volleyball and basketball I know refs take alot of abuse but this gal is abusing her position.
I'm glad this gal isn't a train operator! Sheesh! And I agree with Belinda that this sends a wrong message AND is unfair to the players!
That's funny. I guess I'd be offended, though, to be there and see someone show such a total lack of respect. It could be a serious problem for that teen, and that's sad. --Teaternity
I hope she was reported for her bad bad behavior.

Oh, that's so not cool!
