Historic Boone Tavern Hotel in our small town of Berea Kentucky, has long been famous for spoonbread. It is so well-known and enjoyed here that we have a Spoonbread Festival each year.
So what is spoonbread, you non-southern folks might ask? It is most easily described as a "cornbread souffle" made from cornmeal, eggs, butter and milk. It is served with a spoon and eaten with a fork. By the way, it is best served hot with lots of butter, as PJ and AJ are enjoying it above.... Yummmmm!

I've never had Spoonbread but have always wanted to try and make it! Must put that on the 'to do' list! Wonder if a northerner can make real spoonbread?

Yum! I had some at a restaurant in Atlanta last year and absolutely loved it!

The Bennie's nanny made spoonbread, when he was a boy.
Sometimes he makes it, but said it is never as good as hers.
I am having a cup of Hot cinnamon spice tea, thanks to you and it is so good.

It looks like the boys are enjoying it. I have never had Spoonbread, but have heard of it. Thanks for explaining what it is.
