Welcome to Friendship Tea, a blog about the daily happenings in the life of Linda, a tea enthusiast, who enjoys travel and trip planning, and is passionate about family, friends, life in Kentucky, and all things TEA.
We were very pleased The Berea Citizen, our local weekly newspaper, featured color photos from Tea Time With Berea Health Ministry on the front page of the Berea Living section of the October 22 edition!
A Black Tie Affair, sponsored by Reynolds Insurance and hosted by Carolyn R. B., won for Best Table Setting. Carolyn's mother-in-law helped her decorate this elegant theme using china and flatware, gifts from Carolyn's 2006 wedding.
A combination of the Yada Yada Prayer Group and the Ya-Ya Sisterhood make up this eclectic Yada Yas whimsical table decorated by Debbie C. These ladies are teachers at the local high school and are bonded through common and uncommon circumstances. Obviously they are a fun group to hang out with.
Bybee is the name of the tiny community in our county where the rustic-style collectible Bybee Pottery is made. Karen L. , a BHM tea committee member, decorated this table, A Bybee Afternoon, to seat overflow members of the Phileathea Sunday School Class from Berea Baptist. If you can click on the photo below to enlarge it, you will see the Sunday School class's Gone With The Wind table in the background. The Berea Health Ministry appreciates the continued and regular support from this wonderful group of ladies.
The Gone With the Wind table was decorated by Mrs. T. and is one of two tables of ladies from the Berea Baptist Church Philathea Sunday School Class. Mrs. T used crystal she received as a wedding gift 66 years ago from a group of co-workers. According to her notes, she used Fostoria Navare pattern, Scarlett o'Hara and Rhett Butler collecitable figures from Avon and a water color of a (her) southern style home. On the back side of the centerpiece is a program from the premier of Gone With the Wind. Mrs. T. has very wonderful memories of attending the glorious premier of Gone With the Wind.
Linville Insurance sponsored this table decorated by Lori L.C. Three very special little girls, along with moms and grandmas, were invited to celebrate Barbie's 50th Birthday. Pink boas, gifts, cupcakes and Barbie dolls galore set the scene for this table, the winner for Best Whimsical Design.
AJ enjoyed his first Kentucky thoroughbred racing at Keeneland in Lexington on a beautiful October day.
We enjoyed a nice buffet lunch then the races. The guys look like they are really serous at betting in the photo below. AJ is way too young to bet, so GJ placed a few $2 bets for him. Even a 10-year old must dress in a coat and tie to enter the Club House. I was proud of the way he looked and of his behavior.
Kentucky ladies don't wear hats at the Keeneland fall meet, but they certainly do during Kentucky Derby week at Churchill Downs in Louisville.
When the world is all at odds And the mind is all at sea Then cease the useless tedium And brew a cup of tea. There is magic in its' fragrance, There is solace in its' taste; And then laden moments vanish Somehow into space. And the world becomes a lovely thing! There's beauty as you'll see; All because you briefly stopped To brew a cup of tea. ~ Source unknown
