A visit Austin for a tea connoisseur must include a stop at the Tea Embassy
This shop has one of the best selections of loose leaf tea and teawares from around the world I have seen in an American tea shop.
Carol Sims turned her tea hobby into an online tea business, Tea Treasures, then expanded into the Tea Embassy, a family tea business, located in a historic home in downtown Austin.
The Tea Embassy is not a tea room serving afternoon tea, but you may enjoy a cup of tea here.
The boys, AJ and GJ, patiently sat in the parlor while I shopped. I bought several items including their #1 selling tea, the C.S. Lewis Tea Blend, an Irish Breakfast tea blend from India's Assam region.
The Sims family were not there the day we visited, but staff member Katherine was very helpful and Very knowledgeable about tea.

Hope you had a wonderful 4th of July. That place in Austin looks very interesting... never been to Austin but if I do I will have to look it up.
Thanks for the report! I have her cookbook and have always wondered what the shop was like. Just may have to order some of that C.S. Lewis blend, as I'm quite a fan of his!
Looks like you are on a wonderful journey- a Tea Journey in Texas!
Oh yes, I had the opportunity to visit when they first opened the shop. They do occasionally host special teas. If you are on the mailing list, it almost seems like they have them about once a month. Jonathon, Carol's son, pretty much runs the business now. It is too bad you didn't get to meet Jonathon and his wife, Amy.
Wow that sounds like fun! I will definitely put that on my list of places to visit if I ever make it to Austin again.
