Visiting Charleston, SC

One of our favorite places to visit in Charleston is the City Market in the historic district.
GJ and AJ are shopping for pocket knives from one of the vendors.
A horse-drawn carriage tour is a must if you visit Charleston.
The decorative wrought iron is outstanding.
Another interesting feature you see in the buildings of Charleston is the round "earthquake bolts."
This is an old sign for a hat maker in the historic district.  If you double click on the photo, you can see all the different hats used in the drawing.
On to dinner at Poogan's Porch Restaurant famous for their low country cuisine.
I ordered the Pimiento Cheese Fritters on Green Tomato Jam appetizer
AJ ordered the Fried Alligator with Honey-jalapeno dressing appetizer
My entree is a fried chicken breast stuffed with country ham and collard green, served with mashed potatoes and green beans.  Oh my goodness! It was yummy.

The boys wrapped up the evening with a 1.5 hour Ghosts in the Graveyards walking tour.
I opted out of that tour and tried to keep cool in our room at the Mills House Hotel.

I'm glad to see someone else enjoyed Charleston this summer too! We visited there in July and loved every minute, but the heat and humidity was a killer! I have a few photos on my blog too. Hope to go there again sometime.

It took me a second look to see the hats-that is cute.

How fun! Your food looks delicious. I would have loved the ghost walk. We once did a ghost walk in Williamsburg, I loved it.

I LOVE the City Market in Charleston! There's where I found a Chamilia teapot for one of my bead bracelets, along with a cup and saucer made of sweetgrass! Oh, and I also liked AJ's appetizer, of course!

Looks like you had a great visit to Charleston. I like the City Market too and had the best shrimp and grits I've ever eaten at a place right across from it. Next visit I'll be sure to try Poogan's Porch.

I enjoyed seeing all the photos of your trip.
