Royal Patrician Teapot

This is my "new" Royal Patrician Violets teapot. I'm not exactly sure of the pattern.  It has a cream background instead of white.  I've been searching, but since Royal Patrician has discontinued, I've had diffiiculty.  Is anyone familiar with this pattern?

Floral Staffordshire Vintage Teapot

This is a pretty floral vintage Olde Staffordshire Pottery teapot "Handcrafted in Staffordshire England".
It is another of my recent English bargain teapot finds!

Friends, my posts are short this week due to Carpal Tunnel surgery on my right wrist, and yes, I am right handed, but I seem to be doing well.

A Churchill Teapot

This is one of my recently purchased bargain teapots.  This is a vintage 5-cup Churchill Indian Tree Blue pattern and is made in England. I'm guessing it is part of an everyday dinnerware set because it is dishwasher and microwave safe.
I have been on a recent search for inexpensive 5 to 6 cup English teapots to use while serving large groups.
A "new" teapot always makes me happy!

Memories of Afternoon Tea at The Plaza, NYC

I traveled to New York City in November, 1999, with friends Leona and Judy.  The three of us had been to NYC numerous times before.  Sightseeing at the typical tourist accractions was not tops on our agenda.  Our goal was to shop, shop and shop, and to see shows.  In addition, each of us chose one special thing we wanted to do.  On the three night trip to NYC, we shopped, saw three Broadway shows and the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes Christmas Show,
shopped, enjoyed afternoon tea at The Plaza Hotel (my choice).
And,  did I say we shopped?!?
In my opinion, New York City is the perfect destination for a fun "girlfriends trip."
In March when we were in NYC,  the Palm Court at The Plaza was still undergoing major rennovations, according to their website, but is to re-open for afternoon tea soon.  I certainly hope so!  It was a memorable afternoon tea event for me.

Kentucky Derby 2010 — And The Winner Is Super Saver

I picked the winner, Super Saver ridden by Calvin Borel,  in our family pool and won $10

We stayed inside because of the rain four our annual family Derby celebration, and watched the entire day of festivities on WLEX-TV.   The children wore their Derby shirts I bought for them at Churchill Downs.  We ate Country Ham Biscuits (above photo), southern pimiento cheese sandwiches and various other traditional foods and snacks throughout the day.  Our dessert included strawberry shortcake with whipped cream and Kern's Derby Pie®.

Kentucky Derby 2010 — Run for the Roses

Our newspapers have been full of Kentucky Derby news and related advertisements.
The famous Rose Garland is made by the Kroger floral design team in Louisville.  It is handcrafted on Friday night at the Middletown Kroger on Shelbyville Road between the hours of 4 pm and 11 pm and will be on display to the public until 4 am Saturday morning.

The Winner's Circle in the infield of Churchill Downs is used only one day a year, the first Saturday in May. This year is the 136th running of the Kentucky Derby.

NBC will have a national broadcast a couple of hours of the Derby hoopla and the race itself.  Kentucky NBC affiliates will be broadcasting all the races from early morning until the last race is run.  We will be able to see  horses, hats, Derby attire, backyard Derby parties around Kentucky, and much more all day long!
