My dear Aunt Ida gave me this beautiful Shelley Teacup years ago. It is the only blue and white teacup I have, and it's one of my favorites.
Many of my readers have become acquainted with Aunt Ida through my blog. She was the special lady who started me on my journey of collecting teacups. Aunt Ida passed away last August, just 4 months before her 96th birthday. She had lived in a nursing facility the last five years. I was her caregiver for many years. She was very dear to me and to my family.
Last week I sold Aunt Ida's little 1936 house. It has taken me several years to get to the point to be able to sell the house. GJ and I put a lot of work and money into refurbishing the house over the past several years. After the work was completed, we used it as a guest house and I entertained friends there for afternoon tea.
I am pleased a dear childhood friend who was my next door neighbor bought the house after living away from our little town for many years. She has moved back to be here for her 90 year old mother. I am OK with the sale of the house and I believe Aunt Ida would be happy to know my friend purchased it and will love it.
