Mary and I arrived in Canton on Thursday night for our first night of our three night trip. After antique shopping, we arrived at the First Ladies Tea Room to meet friend for afternoon tea (lunch) and a tour of the First Ladies Museum later in the afternoon.
Tea friends above from left to right:
Lori, Phyllis, and Sandy from Michigan
Ingrid from Toronto
Mary Jane from Massilon, Ohio
Linda and Mary from Kentucky
Mary and I selected the First Ladies Tea from the menu which included a non-alcoholic sparkling beverage.
Lori, Phyllis and Sandy from Michigan, Mary Jane (top photo) and I traveled on the Tea in London 2007 Tour. It was so nice to get together again for tea!
Each of us chose different teas. I chose the Mango Ceylon tea (below).
Notice the ceramic tag label on the teapot.
Next Mary and I had a choice of soup or quiche.
Next came the beautiful three-tier servers.
The sandwiches and savories included:
A Vegetable Wrap, a Turkey and Cranberry Ribbon Sandwich, a Carrot Cream Cheese on Raisin Bread Sandwich, an open-faced Cucumber Sandwich, Chicken Salad in a Phyllo Shell and an Asparagus Wrap.
The Scones and Tea Breads included:
Banana Walnut and Cranberry Scones, Chocolate-dipped Biscotti and Gingerbread
The desserts included:
Chocolate-dipped Strawberries, Cappuccino Cheese Cakes, Pecan Mini Muffin, Pecan Pie Bar, Shortbread Lemon Sandwich Cookie and a decorated Pink Flower Cookie.
After much visiting, we drove a few blocks to the First Ladies National Historic Site for a tour of the museum and the Saxton McKinley House. Unfortunately, I did not take photos of the museum tour.
Later in the evening, Mary and I met our Michigan friends for dinner and more visiting at a restaurant near our hotel.
The fun continues in the next post...
