Teacup Thursday — July 1981 Royal Wedding

This is a Christmas gift from Mary.
She found this commemorative cup and saucer/dish in an antique shop when she was visiting a friend in Florida
I wanted to share it today with Miss Spenser's Teacup Thursday.
The hoopla surrounding William and Kate's April wedding is becoming exciting.
Did you receive your official wedding invitation this week?
My invitation hasn't arrived, yet.
I plan to watch the festivities on TV in the wee hours of the morning on April 29th.

You may need to double click on the photos above to see all the details.
According to the markings on the bottom of the cup and dish, this is Elizabethan Fine Bone China made in England
commemorating the July 29, 1981 marriage of H.R.H. The Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer.
I watched that special event on TV, did you?

Thank you Mary for this special gift!

Oh yes, I watched that one and intend to watch this one too, over an early-morning tea! (Like you, my invitation seems to have gotten delayed in the mail. Must check with my postman...)

By the way, if you and Mary ever break up, can I be first in line to claim her as my new BFF?

Wonderful fun! There are many British Royal Memorabilia collectors. Our sales in memorabilia has increased. I remember watching the Queens's coronation at 3 am with my mother & grandmother (the Brits).and the wedding 9n 1981..amazing that I'm that old! LOL! Will be watching the 29th as well. Have a countdown on my blog!

What a pretty and topical teacup! Anticipation ahead of the Royal Wedding is building here in the UK and it's lovely to see how many people around the world are just as excited. Happy Teacup Thursday! :-)

Well I will be at the wedding right along with you!!!

I remember watching Charles and Diana's wedding...have been in love with Diana ever since. She was such a beautiful woman.

That teacup and saucer is a real treasure...a snippet of history too. Thanks for sharing it.

Such memories that brings!!! Sis and I put mattresses on the den floor at my house and hoped to nap a little and not miss a thing. We talked all night and giggled, and then our eyelids would hardly stay open for the wedding!!

Somewhere here in a box, I have a C&S commemorating ER II's Silver Anniversary---haven't a clue where it is, but I got it at Goodwill in Ohio a few years ago.

Would you please send us all an INVITE to remind us on the day before?---you know I'll forget and miss the whole thing. (Again)

Oh my, I would have planned my vacation time differently if I had known about the wedding in April. I will miss it. But just picture me laying on a beach somewhere in Asia.

I only have one royal theme
cup and saucer from Queen Elizabeth's
visit to Canada. I am sure the new wedding will bring new commemorative
cups and plates!
