Teacups: Clutter or A Collection?

I recently read an article in the newspaper about hoarding, clutter, and collections and the fine line between each.

In my opinion these teacups, displayed on our piano in the above photo, are definitely a collection.
What do you think?

One of my family members, won't mention her  name, thinks my teacup collection borders on being clutter!
OK, I admit, there are MANY more teacups in my collection than the 24 neatly displayed on the piano, and some of them might appear to be clutter to some people... But, am I hoarding teacups?
Absolutely NOT!

Hi Linda,
Definitely a collection! Beautifully displayed!

Can someone be envied for hoarding? I'd say rarely and I'm quite envious of all of your wonderful teacups. :)

It's a great joy to get to see everyone's teacups and learn so much about tea and tea time things.

Keep 'em comin', Love Carol B.

Definitely a carefully-acquired, meticulously-maintained collection. You practically have your own little museum there, with all the examples of fine china and beautiful tea accessories.

I love looking in on all your treasures, and would love a tour of your tea room sometime---would there ever be a possibility of a video scan of that beautiful room?

ps---I've made teacakes with plain old milk, so you don't have to go buy the buttermilk.

Wow! That is quite a "collection". I did visit a friend a few years ago and everywhere I looked in her house including the bathroom I saw teapots. I love tea things, but I can see where it can become hoarding.

Of course you are NOT hoarding tea cups. It only becomes hoarding when you cannot walk through your home because the piles are too high! Thank you for stopping by. HPS!

Hi Linda
Maybe bordering on excessive collector? I wouldn't say hoarder by any means.
I'm keeping my collection small, a new teacup would have to be extraordinary to join the fold.

I say they're ART and HOME DECOR as well as a collection! (I feel very strongly about this!!!)

I would say a "collection"...I love your teacups, they're lovely.

I only call my "stuff" clutter when I haven't organized them yet; once they're neatly displayed they become my collection:-) I guess one could also say I hoard but if I didn't hoard I would never have a collection right?
