Teacup Thursday — J & C Bavaria

During March I will feature my green colored teacups. I only have a few green teacups.  Most of my teacups are pinks and pink floral patterns.
This teacup is a Jeager and Co. Bavaria, Germany hand painted antique porcelain teacup
and saucer marked "Louise."  It is in various shades of green accented with pink flowers and gold trim.

This teacup was part of Aunt Ida's collection.  She purchased pretty teacups during her travels and out "antiquing" with lady friends around central Kentucky. I don't use this teacup. I display it in my dining room with glassware and china gifts from Aunt Ida.  She started me on my teacup collecting journey in 1985.  I have always been a tea drinker rather than a coffee drinker, but I didn't develop my passion for "all things tea" until 1993.  It has been a fun journey of collecting and continued tea education.

I love the shape of the saucer and what a gorgeous design, almost like a watercolour, a beautiful green teacup!

Now that's a shape you don't see every day. No one in my family were tea drinkers...I remember the old men slurping their coffee from the saucers.{Western Ky} It wasn't until recent years that I discovered the warmth of a cuppa tea...these cold Ohio winters encouraged me..teehee!

Aren't family collections wonderful? What a blessing to have an inheritance like that. My collection from my grandmother got me started collecting in my teens. An unusual shap and so spring like!

Linda,Thank you for visiting me.Your teacup is so pretty and dainty.I would put it on display too. Those little ol' fragile and dainty teacups from the past are hard to drink from.I always put those on display and drink from ones with a bigger handle.Lovely having tea with you.

Hi Linda,
I recall you speaking with great fondness about your Aunt Ida. This cup and saucer is just exquisite. I love everything about it - the shape, the colors that remind me of Monet's Garden, the golden accents, and the little three leaf clover mark on the bottom. What a treasure you have to remind you of a very special lady. Don't you think she would enjoy knowing that you had a nice cup of tea in it once in a while?
Perhaps on her birthday! Thanks for sharing something so very special to you with all of us.
