Teacup Thursday — Royal Winton Summertime Trio

I purchased this Royal Winton Summertime teacup and saucer trio several years ago at an antique mall in Hendersonville, NC while traveling.
I debated with myself for a while before purchasing, due to the price.  My trio is badly crazed and discolored which makes it look very much used and loved.
In addition to being marked as a Royal Winton Summertime made in England, it is also marked Wright Fyndale and van Roden Inc.
What fun to see this cup and saucer as a "cover girl" on the current Tea Time Magazine!

Celebrating with Girlfriends

Paula, Barb, Linda, Ticky and Patty (back)
The "old girlfriends" traveled to Pigeon Forge, TN to celebrate our 60th birthday year.
We began these gatherings 10 years ago during our 50th birthday year.
We all grew up in the small town of Berea, KY and all but one attended 1st - 12th grades in the same school system.
Barb, joined us in
We all moved away,  some of us moved back, and two live in Ohio.
Lunch at the Wild Plum Tree Tea Room
Everyone has to enjoy the tea room's garden!

The view from our balcony.

Three of the gals went Zip Lining,
 while two of us shopped
and lunched at The Christmas Place.
Breakfast at The Old Mill and dinner at the Applewood Farmhouse are a must!
Jennifer, who couldn't go this year, joined the gals for a quick visit, upon return to Berea.

AJ's Favorite Hotels

On our most recent visit to the Opryland Hotel, AJ told me the Gaylord Hotels are his favorite hotels.
He enjoys the atrium's, arcades, music, entertainment, restaurants and shops.

We had dinner in the Irish Pub at Opryland Hotel, and enjoyed the music.

AJ's  Gaylord Hotel experience is limited to multiple visits to two of their hotels,
Opryland Hotel and the Gaylord Palms in the 2009 and 2010 photos below.
Note the alligators in the background.

What boy wouldn't be fascinated by alligators in a hotel?!?

AJ is a fun traveling companion, and keeps me busy while GJ is in meetings.

Touring Nashville

We had fun showing AJ the sights in Nashville.
The Ryman Auditorium had several great costume and memorabilia displays.

Next stop was the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
GJ and I hadn't been there in several years and could have stayed longer taking in all the displays.

Next stop was Honky Tonk Row, Broadway Street

While we were in Legends Corner, country music artist Jerrod Niemann was shooting a video behind me when I took the photo below.  Sorry I was not allowed to take photos of the video taping of "One More Drinking Song".  They took 2 takes while we were there.   What fabulous memories for AJ!
Above, Kinsey Rose was the scheduled entertainer at Legends Corner on Monday afternoon.

And, our last stop at the Nashville Parthenon.

The Loveless Motel and Cafe — Nashville

Years ago during travels, we began seeking out off the beaten path local restaurants to visit.
The hubby, GJ, has taken us to many interesting places.
While in Nashville last week, we went to the Loveless Cafe for lunch.
They have breakfast and supper on the menu. Our meal was from the "supper" menu.
The Loveless Cafe has been featured in many publications and TV.  They are famous for their home style cooking,
especially their, fried chicken, country ham and pork bar-b-que.
Fortunately, I called ahead on Sunday before arriving to put our name on the list.
Otherwise, there would have been a 1 1/2 hour wait.

The Loveless Cafe is well-known for their made from scratch biscuits and jams.
The Banana Pudding was a must have, as it reminded me of my mother's homemade banana pudding.

The Loveless Cafe, located on Highway 100, Nashville, TN, at the entrance of the Natchez Trace
is frequented by celebrities, travelers and locals.
It ceased to be a motel many years ago.

They have an online store at this link.

Teacup Thursday — Royal Albert Debutante Series

This pretty teacup is a Royal Albert "Romance"from the Debutante Series.
According to my research, the cup appears to be a Gainborough shape.

Jane Pettigrew at Headley-Whitney Museum

Bruce Richardson of Elmwood Inn Fine Teas brought Jane Pettigrew,  London's First Lady of Tea, to the Headley-Whitney Museum in Lexington this evening.
Jane presented a very interesting program on The Social History of British Tea.

Elmwood Inn Fine Teas provided a tea tasting of Temple Garden and Young Hyson Green Tea.

After the program and tea tasting, Bruce and Jane signed books and visited with the guests.
The books and teas are available at www.elmwoodinn.com

Thanks to my dear friends Patty and Mary for going with me to this very special program.
The Headley-Whitney Museum is located in the heart of beautiful horse farm country on Old Frankfort Pike near Lexington.
After the event, we drove to Historic Midway where enjoyed dinner at the Heirloom Restaurant.

Fun in Louisville

What comes to mind when you think of Louisville, KY?
(pronounced Lou-a-vul)

Churchill Downs? The Kentucky Derby?

GJ had a business meeting at Churchill Downs, so AJ and I tagged along.
During the meeting, AJ and I visited the Kentucky Derby Museum located at Churchill Downs.
The entrance (above) is through an authentic starting gate.
There are many interactive and fun exhibits, including AJ's favorite,
jockeying your own horse through a race.

\
I enjoyed the Derby Hat and attire exhibit.
Anna Nicole Smith's outfit is in the photo below.
After the business meeting, we had lunch in a private box and watched a few of the afternoon races.

We stayed overnight at the historic Seelbach Hilton Hotel,
and had dinner at the nearby Eddie Merlot's Restaurant.
Our server, below, is making Strawberries Romanoff, one of their flaming desserts.

It was a nice overnight trip with lots of fun memories.

By the way, AJ and I will be tagging along on a few more business trips during summer break.
