My Mishap in Los Angeles

This is the culprit in Los Angeles which caused my broken shoulder!

No, not the gorgeous yellow Ferrari.
It was the little curb behind it!

I took this photo with AJ and the Ferrari on Sunday morning.
Monday evening the Ferrari was gone, but the curb was still there....

I missed the step off it, turned my left ankle, fell forward, caught on my knees and hands
to prevent myself from smashing my face.
I knew immediately something was wrong with my right arm and shoulder!

Yes, I am right handed, and yes it is the same shoulder where I had rotator cuff surgery in November!
After several hours in a downtown LA hospital ER, I was diagnosed with a fractured humerus.
We caught the first flight home Tuesday and luckily saw my orthopedic surgeon Wednesday.
The good news is --  no surgery for now!
I will go back for x-rays  a couple of times to see if it will heal without surgery.
The moral of this story is:
Don't text and walk!
OK, I wasn't texting, but I was looking at my phone, and not where I was walking.
My two guys were on either side of me and it happened so quickly!!

Sadly, we had to cut our trip short by two days.

My blogging will be very sporadic during this six-week+ healing process.
I will post some of our photos of the trip when I can.
Unfortunately, no fancy afternoon teas are on my calendar for the near future.

Your prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Linda, I am so sorry about your injury and that your trip was cut short. I hope you repair quickly and without complication.

My neighbor lady fell (tripped on a hose in her yard) about six weeks ago. She is doing quite well now, but had some very difficult days in the meantime. I guess the good news is, the body does heal itself. Patience in the meantime can be difficult, though. Hang in there!

Oh, My Dear!!! I am SO sorry about your mishap! I saw the comment in a post yesterday, I think, and just thought it was in reference to the former injury.

My Goodness!!! What a shame, for your health and for your wonderful trip---I hope your recovery is uneventful and quick and easy. Now's the time to stay IN and be cool and just turn inward for a bit, for YOU.

I'm so sorry this happened to you, and I'm sending good thoughts and prayers. (And lots of gentle Bang-Daids for your poor hands and knees---hope they're healing well).

If you took of "My" and just said, "Mishap in Los Angeles" it might sound like a motion picture!! Trying to cheer you up there! I bet it felt like a horror movie for sure...and a painful one at that...I am so sorry Linda!!

AJ looks quite natural by the car...think you better start saving up! ha.

Oh Linda! We just returned from our vacation in the Outer Banks, and I'm trying to catch up on the news.... was so very sorry to hear about your mis-step. Yikes! And on your newly repaired arm... oh goodness. Glad you don't need surgery... and hope that time takes care of everything for you. So sorry the vacation was cut short and afternoon tea was absent and your connection with Martha didn't happen. So disappointing! Take care of you! Thinking of you!

Linda, I am so sorry to read about your mishap. My sister is just recovering from 2 broken wrists after falling in her garden in June. My thoughts are with you and praying for a speedy healing. I had a fall in 07 that resulted in a broken wrist with surgery and also had a rotter cuff torn. My thoughts are with you.

Linda, noooooo! I remember the surgery and definitely do not want you doing it again. Praying for you right now!

P.S. Just now catching up on blogs after finishing a huge deadline last week, but yes, that Depression Glass Show is that same week every year. I'll send you some info!

Linda, you certainly have my prayers. It is so easy to make a misstep with unhappy results!
