Bruce and Shelley Richardson operated the Elmwood Inn in Perryville, Kentucky as a tea room from September 1990 until July 31, 2004.
I live just an hour east of Perryville and visited Elmwood Inn frequently for afternoon tea with my family and with freinds. Our older daughter Melissa and I attended the Richardson's Tea 101 weekend seminar in 2001.
December afternoon tea at Elmwood Inn was one of our family Christmas traditions.
We miss the Elmwood Inn afternoon tea experience.
Bruce, Shelley and Ben Richardson continue to be very busy in the tea business with their writing, speaking, publishing, tea blending, wholesales of teas and books, and more!
A Year of Teas at the Elmwood Inn is my most-used tea recipe book. You can probably tell that from all the bookmarks in my copy above. This book contains some of my favorite tea sandwich recipes. It was the first of the Richardson's books, originally printed in 1994.
It is the first book in my tea library of 250+ books that I turn to for inspiration and menu planning when I'm hosting friends or family for afternoon tea.
As the popularity of the tea room grew, Shelley Richardson's recipe collection expanded.
A Tea For All Seasons was the second recipe book , published in 1996.
Their last recipe book, The Tea Table, above, was printed in 2003.
All of these books contain great recipes.
All the recipes were served to thousands of guests over the years at Elmwood Inn.
