Purple Teapots For Alzheimer's Month

Every day in September, I used my "purple" teapots
to help me remember my mother and friends who have traveled
along the Alzheimer's Journey.
I was honored to host the Afternoon Tea Across America (ATAA) Yahoo Online Group
plum (purple) colored Traveling Teapot during September, World's Alzheimer's Month.
Featured in the photo above with my mother's favorite teacup trios.

These are my English Bone China "purple" teapots
collected over several years.

Perhaps I can find a new-to-me purple teapot
for September 2013.
Hmm... I think I just issued myself a teapot shopping challenge!

ACM Honors Awards in Nashville

Mary called me in August and asked if I would go with her to Nashville, TN
to see Kentucky native Dwight Yoakam receive a Pioneer Award from the
Academy of Country Music at the Ryman Auditorium on Monday, September 24
She ordered the tickets and here we are!
The "red carpet" experience was fun beyond our expectations.
The awards show was chock-full of country music stars,
and our trip with The Traveling Teapot was just amazing!!

Among the first to arrive was Dierks Bentley, the host of the awards show.

Mary got autographs while I took photos.
Below, Luke Bryan.
Watch for Hunter Hayes, below, to become a big star.

including Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, Will Hoge, Randy Houser,

Another New RTD Tea

While shopping at WalMart last night,
I found a *new* Ready To Drink (RTD)
V8 V-Fusion Iced Tea "made from real tea leaves
and a blend of 3 vegetable and fruit juices."
 Has anyone tried this?
I haven't yet. I put it in the fridge this morning to chill.
According tot he fine print this beverage contains
in addition to black tea,
the juice from sweet potatoes, apples and peaches.

Any thoughts?

Keep Calm and Carry On

During a quick bit of shopping at TJ Maxx, I purchased a tin of

KEEP CALM and CARRY ON®
English Breakfast Tea

While we were in Niagara-on-the Lake, Canada
I purchased a refrigerator magnet with the same mesage.

I believe I need to adopt this slogan for my theme this year.
Life has been crazy-busy (and fun) around here.
(Surely I can make it through a few more weeks of soccer!)

Vintage Duchess Teacup

One of my favorite things to do is to purchase a "new" teacup and saucer.
This pretty Duchess Bone China Made in England
came from the eBay store of my tea and blogger friend Karen
at Devonshirelace at Karen's Place.
Check out her shopping link and you will find many pretty "tea things."

Harney's Boston Blend in My Cup Today

I am drinking Harney and Sons Boston Blend today.
According to the description:
"The bogs of south Boston are the inspiration of this tea.
Mike is a big fan of cranberries.
This is a blend of black tea, cranberry and almond flavors."

I enjoyed this tea with a hint of cranberry and almond flavors.
It was not an overwhelming flavor, in my opinion.

What tea are you drinking today?

I receive many questions about where I purchase teas.
I purchase different teas online and when I travel.
Harney and Sons is just  one of several favorite tea vendors.

Yesterday's Cafe and Tea Room

Melissa and I enjoyed lunch tea at Yesterday's Cafe and Tea Room
in Florence, KY on Friday.
I called ahead to see if they have a gluten-free menu, as Melissa has Celiac.
They have a wide variety of gluten-free items on their menu,
and can offer a gluten-free afternoon tea with advance reservations.
Melissa was so happy!

The server offered us samples of their two
teas of the day, a Chai and Spring Green.
Both were delicious.

Afternoon Tea at Yesterday's includes an iced tea
and a pot of hot tea.
I chose the Matcha Lemonade (above) and Melissa chose the Matcha Blueberry (below)
We shared a pot of Spring Green Tea.

Melissa ordered from the Gluten-Free menu and will post photos later on her blog.
My tea/lunch began with the Parmesan Tomato Soup
and  a Scone with Lemon Curd.
Next, I had a scoop of Curried Chicken Salad
and an Orange Green Salad with Poppyseed Dressing.

The delicious dessert was a Two-Bite Peach Bread Pudding.
Melissa's lunch tea included a cup of Vegetarian Chili
a slice of amaxingly delicious Gluten-Free Earl Grey Tea Bread,
and a Mango Chicken Salad with a Ginger Lime Vinaigerette.

Susan Schultz is  the owner of Yesterday's Cafe and Tea Room.
Yesterday's is our favorite Tea Room in N. KY,
and one of our favorites in the USA.
