Berry Pickin' Time in Kentucky

We recently visited friends near Lawrenceburg, KY
who have a "pick your own" berry business.
The blackberries were not ready yet.
But, the blueberries were perfect for pickin'.
Unfortunately the 101 degree temperature that day made it difficult.
We picket nearly a gallon to take home with us. 
After pickin', our friend, Leah, treated us to homemade blueberry ice cream. 
Now what to do with the delicious blueberries?
I made a blueberry sauce to serve on cheesecake
and vanilla ice cream.  The easy recipe is below.

Blueberry Sauce Recipe

2 cups fresh blueberries
1/3 cup sugar
1 Tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Wash and crush blueberries; add sugar, lemon juice and salt.  Mix well.  In a small saucepan, bring blueberry mixture to a boil; boil 1 minute.  Add vanilla.  Chill.
Serve over cake, cheesecake or ice cream. Enjoy!
