On the return trip from N.KY,
we stopped at Windy Corner Market
in the middle of horse farm country near Lexington.
Windy Corner has become a family favorite!
The Sunday special was their delicious version of
Kentucky Hot Brown.
It was made with all locally grown ingredients
listed on their menu (click on link).
Of course, I enjoyed my meal with
freshly brewed iced tea.
Below: Princess KJ enjoyed a strawberry ice cream cone
for dessert.
Yum!

Sounds like you had a wonderful family weekend, and what a fun way to end it by going to a family favorite restaurant!
My brother recently moved to Lexington and on a visit from Ohio, I was treated to a Hot Brown at a local diner. It was absulutely amazing!!!! If I lived in Kentucky I would weigh 900 pounds. It was one of the most delicious dishes I ever tried. Don't tell me the recipe - it would be too dangerous. :) And the adorable girl with the ice cream cone is pretty sweet, too :)
We have to find this place next time we're off to Versailles. I do love a menu which proudly lists Weisenberger grits and Stone Cross sausage, and then offers Velveeta as one of the cheese options!
Makes me smile.
Glad Y'all had such a wonderful Holiday Season,
rachel
Mmm, I love Kentucky Hot Browns, although I'm quite sure I haven't had the authentic one as you did!
Some day I must have a Kentucky Hot Brown. It does sound intriguing.
