I ordered the new Susan Branch book,
"A Fine Romance, Falling in love with the English Countryside"
from her website, SusanBranch.com
I could have written this book!
Well, not really, because I am NOT a writer, a professional photographer,
and most of all, I am definitely NOT an artist!!
But, Glenn, Austin and I have traveled to many of the same lovely places
she described in this journal of her most recent 2-month trip to England.
We experienced many of the same fun and almost scary adventures while
driving a rental car on the "other side of the road."
We have visited many of the same beautiful English gardens,
manor houses, tea rooms, and more. We stayed in 600 year-old self-catering cottages
and flats in small villages. We have waited while sheep cross the road before
we can continue driving.
We fell in love with beautiful village of Bibury
and the Bibury Court Hotel in 1998,
and returned several times since.
(see her photos in the book below)
I so much enjoyed reading about her stay there!
I could not put this book down when I began reading it.
I savored every word, every photo, and every drawing!
I enjoyed several mugs of tea
from my "Welcome to the Cotswolds" Dunoon mug
purchased at a shop in Broadway.
I was sorry when the book came to an end,
But, reading it brought back so many wonderful memories of our
trips to England. Oh, how we want to return soon.
Today the tea in my mug is a loose leaf Harney and Sons
Passion Fruit Flavored Black Tea.
