Austin departed on Saturday morning, July 26
with the Madison County Homestay students and chaperones
for a one-week stay at Hokuto City, Japan.
This visit is a part of our sister-city program.
Glenn and I have been active in the program for many years,
and have visited the Hokuto City area of Japan several times.
Lexington to Minneapolis, to Narita/Tokyo
then a bus ride to meet their host families.
Austin's host student Kotaro visited us last summer
when the Japanese students were here for a week.
The Madison County group arrived safely
in Japan, and Austin is having a "blast"
with his friend Kotaro.
Austin's first text informed us he enjoyed a
cup of green tea and a "sweet of some kind"
upon arrival at Kotaro's home.

Have fun, Austin! Can't wait to learn more about your adventures.
I think your house is going to be very quiet this week, and probably a bit lonely. Hope Austin has a great time in Japan. What a wonderful opportunity for him. Now that he's visited all 50 U.S. States, he's expanding his visits to other countries
What a fabulous experience! Anxious to hear about his travels!
What a great experience for Austin. Looking forward to seeing and hearing more about his adventure.
What a wonderful opportunity for cultural exchange!
I would be disappointed if he did NOT experience some nice teas in Japan!
