Oahu Visit

We arrived in Honolulu on Wednesday, June 18th.
The photo below is the view from our balcony at the Waikiki Beach Marriott.
We toured Pearl Harbor on Thursday, June 19th,
including a boat ride to the USS Arizona Memorial.
Standing on the memorial looking down
on this ship and the military men who are permanently buried there
was an emotional experience.
We also visited the Iolani Palace, King Kamehameha statue,
the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, and more.
The next day, Friday, June 20th,  we took a
Grand Island Circle tour of Oahu where we
visited the Dole Plantation, Diamond Head Crater,
 beautiful beaches and lots more!
Later in the afternoon Austin took his first ever
surfing lessons and then surfed on Waikiki Beach.
He had fun, but was exhausted and ready for dinner upon return.
I had a delicious cheeseburger on a gluten free bun
with GF fries.  What a treat at
Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville Waikiki.

Austin, playing the ukulele on the beach on Saturday morning.
My breakfast tea for the three mornings
at the Waikiki Beach Marriott was
Taylors of Harrogate English Breakfast,
a blend of black teas from Africa and Sri Lanka.

What a wonderful trip! Thanks for sharing it with us. Our son, Steve, and family are going to Hawaii next month before Brianna heads off to college.

Love the gorgeous photos! Would have enjoyed seeing the Pearl Harbor Memorial and the King Kamehameha statue, since a history book I recently read had a lot of info about him.
