I went to Lexington shopping on Monday, and
to The Gift Box and Tea Room for lunch.
I had heard of this tea room, but it was my first visit.
The server wasn't familiar with gluten free.
She recommended the Sampler Platter (above)
Quiche, mandarin tea salad, and chicken salad served with
their own friendship bread.
I ordered it mostly out of curiosity, because this combination
gift shop and tea room reminded me of the former
Miss Ramey's Tea Room in Frankfort, one of the first tea rooms in Kentucky.
Of course, y'all know the gluten parts I couldn't eat.
There are GF green salads on the menu I could have selected.
The tea room serves a variety of soups, salads, sandwiches, "unique combinations",
desserts and beverages (including a selection of Elmwood Inn hot teas.
In addition, they offer daily specials, whole desserts, quiche, and chicken salad, pimento cheese, and olive nut spread by the pound. They also feature
Miss Julie's Luncheon Tea, A Friendship Afternoon Tea (with reservations),
Kitten Kaboodle Tea for children 12 and under.
I was very glad I visited The Gift Box and Tea Room.
I will return with friends.
