Boyds Bear™ Mad Hatter is having a fun
Celtic tea party on my bookshelf
as we wrap up the month of March.
He always brings a smile to my face.

Regency Shamrock Teacup Trio

 My celebration of March continues...
This is a pretty inexpensive Regency teacup trio
in a shamrock pattern.
As I've mentioned during the last few years,
I have a "connection" with the month of March and Shamrocks.

Mango Green Tea

I purchased a package of Yesterday's Cafe and Tea Room's Mango Green.
The description says:  "Sweet, smooth, and summery
are your first impressions when you sip this tea.
Delicious hot or cold.  Staff recommends 2 infusions."
Steep in 195 degree water for 3 minutes.
Melissa and I really enjoyed this green tea.
It was a delicious light tasting green with no "grassy" taste.

Susan at Yesterday's has added a very nice
tea tasting station just inside the entrance
of the tea room.
Take a closer look at the clear glass teapot in the
wood stand over the tea light/warmer.
I've never seen a "teapot stand" like it before.
Have you?

Tea With Melissa

I visited Melissa and family for a few days last week.
We took a little time for gluten free lunch/tea at Yesterday's Tea Room
in Florence.  This is one of our favorite activities when
I'm in Northern Kentucky.
Susan, the owner of Yesterday's is very well educated in tea.
In addition to the tea room, there is a boutique, a children's tea party room,
a small cafe' to dine in or take away (British for "to-go") a variety of fresh-baked
scones, muffins, cakes, salads, soup, sandwiches, and of course a variety of teas.

 Cafe entrance below.

We enjoyed a full afternoon tea with the featured iced tea
(green tea lemonade)
and, a featured pot of tea, Mango Green.
Both were delicious.
Our lunch/afternoon tea began with a cup of yummy sweet potato soup.
Next was the main course, 1/2 chicken salad sandwich on fresh baked GF bread,
Cucumber tea sandwich on GF white bread,
Apple and cinnamon cream cheese tea sandwich on GF raisin bread
Green salad with mandarin oranges and a homemade dressing
Marinated slaw
For dessert we had a delightful warm GF caramel bread pudding.
We were so hungry and busy talking I forgot to
take photos until everything was half-eaten.
Austin was in Nashville on a school trip, and Glenn was busy with
several evening meetings. It was a great opportunity for me
to visit and shop with Daughter #1 and family for a few days.

Ansley Shamrock Teacup Trio

I became acquainted with Aynsley English Bone China
years ago in a shop in a tiny English village.
I was pleased to find this pretty Aynsley shamrock patter
teacup trio to add to my collection.
As bonus, it came with an extra plate.
Oh, happy me!

Girl Scout Gluten Free Cookies

If you are gluten free, and wondering about
the new Girl Scout gluten free Trios cookies.
My advice is to run to the nearest Girl Scout and buy them.
They are delicious GF cookies!
My daughter, Melissa, brought me a bag,
and that afternoon hubby, Glenn, brought me 2 bags.
I have to limit myself to 2 a day so I won't eat all 12
at one sitting!

Royal Tara Table

The tea table for two is set with Royal Tara china made in Ireland.
The lighting in the photo above makes the trio appear
to be ivory, but they are white as seen in the photo below.
Recently, we discussed "large" milk pitchers and open sugar
bowls.  This set is a good example.
The back stamp says
"Royal Tars, Tara Hall,
Fine Bone China Made in Galway Ireland"

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day.
Please enjoy a nice cup of tea with me.
May you always be blessed
with walls for the wind
a roof for the rain
a warm cup of tea by the fire
laughter to cheer you
those you love near you
and all that your heart might desire.

Twinings Irish Breakfast Tea

I received St.Patrick's / birthday greetings from Angela.
She knows how I enjoy teacups, shamrocks, and  Irish Breakfast Tea.
The foil-wrapped Twinings tea bag has an Irish cottage scene on the front.
The ingredients: Fine black tea expertly selected from Kenya, Indonesia,
Assam and China.
The directions say to steep for 4 minutes.  I like my brew steeped for 3 minutes.
It is described as a bold, rich tasting hearty tea.
This is distributed by Twinings North America, Inc.

Reuben Rolls - A St. Patrick's Day Tea Sandwich

Photo by Taste of Home Magazine

I found a recipe for Reuben Rolls from Taste of Home.
I haven't made them, but thought they would be a good St.Patrick's tea sandwich.

• 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
• 3 tablespoons spicy brown mustard
• 1/4 teaspoon prepared horseradish
• 5 flour tortillas (10 inches), room temperature
• 7 packages (2 ounces each) thinly sliced deli corned beef
• 15 thin slices Swiss cheese
• 1 can (14 ounces) sauerkraut, rinsed and well drained
Makes 48 Servings
• Prep: 30 min. + chilling
This is a repeat from my blog post on March 2, 2011.
It has been  receiving the most hits on my blog this month.
Tea friend, Mary Jane, suggested using green tortillas.

Irish Breakfast Tea

My cup of tea today is Harney and Sons
Irish Breakfast Black Tea.
The package lists Black tea as the ingredients.
Harney's Irish Breakfast is full bodied, and perfect for my morning cuppa,
especially during March when we celebrate all things Irish.

What a Show!

What a fun two weeks of rehearsals and shows at the local
community theater, Berea Arena Theater!
The cast of 21 and crew pulled off three fantastic performances
through cancelled rehearsals, no dress rehearsal or scheduled opening night,
due to two major snow storms here in southern Kentucky of
"Broadway, Oh What A Night!"
Berea Community High School students who participated above were:
L to R - Greg, lighting technician
Katie, Austin, Emma, and  Grace (behind Austin) who all performed
solos and in all the full cast numbers.
These photos were made at the Cast Party after the final show on Sunday afternoon.
A new friend from the cross-town rival school joined in nest to Austin in this photo.
Making new friends and wonderful memories!

(Now, it I can get all these Broadway show tunes out of my head!

Snow Again?

Here we go again!
Kentucky has made the national winter weather news again!
Just give me another cup of tea, please!

Snow, ice, flooding and record-breaking cold temperatures.
It certainly has been an unusual winter
in my southern Kentucky home.
We have consumed many, many cups of tea.

Shamrocks on the Tea Cart

I purchased this tea cart several years ago at a consignment
store in Lexington while Mary and I were out shopping.
It sits in our "tea room" where
I enjoy decorating it in different holiday and seasonal themes.
During the month of March, it is all decked out in Shamrock china
from different English manufacturers, and in different patterns.
Even "Miss TeaBeary" joined in the fun with a shamrock on her hat.

March Daffodils

 Royal Patrician "Daffodils" Trio

March is the first month of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, and the first month
of fall or autumn in the Southern Hemisphere.
  • March's birthstones are aquamarine and bloodstone.  These stones symbolize courage.
  • Its birth flower is the daffodil.
  • The zodiac signs for the month of March are Pisces (until March 20) and Aries (March 21 on).
Happy Birthday to all my March birthday friends!
