Spring Break 2015 - Dachau Memorial Site

Dachau, near Munich, was the first Nazi concentration camp.
Our guide Joe, an American WWII history major, was very
knowledgeable and interesting in his presentation.
The photo of prisoners below, for publicity purposes, shows the best of the best.
The prisoners were terrorized, tortured and starved.

Visiting Dachau was a good but somber experience.
Our students were very respectful during the visit.

Dachau operated 1933 - 1945
was liberated by the United States in the spring of 1945

Above is a memorial to the prisoners who were "labeled" by colors.
Below is one of the religious memorials within the Dachau Memorial Site.

A very somber experience indeed. Difficult to fully comprehend what took place here, even more difficult is understanding how it could happen.

That would indeed be sobering for the students. What an experience for them.

So sad, but good for the students to experience this. May we never forget.
