An Evening Afternoon Tea

I was invited to a DAR evening tea by the sister-in-law
of my soon-to-be ninety year old neighbor.
The event was a Friday evening "Mother's Day Tea."
It was an afternoon tea menu served in the evening.
The event began at 6:00 p.m. with the service of scones.
The ladies I sat with were not accustomed to my tea time photography,
therefore, I didn't have an opportunity to photo the scones and jams served
on the three-tier server.
After the scones, the savories were served plated.
They included;
Roast Beef and Caramelized Onion Tea Sandwich
Cucumber Cup with Benedictine garnished with a cherry tomato
Curried Chicken Salad in a Lettuce Cup
Quiche Loraine
Country Ham on an Herb Cheese Biscuit
Shrimp in a Pea Pod
Desserts were served on the three-tier Server

 Desserts included:
Turtle Brownie
Lemon Tart
Frosted Cookie
The teas included a spice -flavored tea and an Earl Grey.
The event was catered by my table hostesses daughter who
is also my neighbor's niece.
I asked the two sisters-in-law, who had been married to brothers,
and are both widows,
how long they had been in the same family.
Joyce, my neighbor, and her husband Jack were married 65 years ago,
and Joe and Ann married 63 years ago.
It was a fun evening with a Band of gentlemen
performing 1940's music.

Oh, this sounds quite fun! I have long wanted to try an evening tea but never have. Delighted to recognize the Benedictine spread on the cucumber cup, too!

P.S. Forties Music! Ahhh …

That sounds like a fun evening! I did smile a bit when I read the "evening afternoon" part - but it was lovely.

Now this sounds and looks like a lovely evening of tea. I am doing a tea on Sunday and thought of doing something with the cucumber, so loved seeing it here.
