Day 7 - Afternoon Tea at The Plaza

Visiting The Plaza Hotel was high on Peyton's NYC list because
of the movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
The hotel lobby has totally changed since the movie, but we enjoyed an interesting
discussion with an employee who was there during the filming.
He pointed out a locations of a few of the scenes.
Since our last visit, Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian was named the Culinary Director at The Plaza,
and The Palm Court has undergone a complete renovation.
Afternoon tea prices have increased and, if you wish, cocktails are served with tea.
Peyton ordered the traditional Eloise Tea with  "Cold Cold" Pink Lemonade to drink.
The Eloise Menu
There are no more white table cloths in The Palm Court.
Notice the "modern" look of the wood and mirrored table.

The top tier of sweets was Peyton's favorite course of the Eloise tea.

The boys were not familiar with the Eloise story,  I told them about the
adventurous 6-year-old little girl who lived at The Plaza, became famous
in the 1955 book Eloise.
After tea we visited the Eloise shop for a little shopping.
I just love, love, love Eloise.
My fun book purchase:

Now this is something I'd love to do myself. Do they serve the Eloise tea to adults? :-) It looks delicious, including the pink lemonade.

I've enjoyed ALL your NYC posts, but you know this one's my favorite! ;-) It's definitely on my list to have Afternoon Tea at The Plaza Hotel one day. I'd have to buy one of those Eloise teacups as a keepsake. Was it an arm and a leg price? Looking forward to tomorrow's post.

Look at those dapper young men! Although the white tablecloths may be gone, the elegance and prestige of tea at The Plaza still reigns!

What a wonderful experience to go there. I am amazed at the contemporary tea tray! Wow! The boys or should I say little boy and young man - look so confident!

Thank you, Linda, for sharing your family tea experience at The Plaza.

Geoffrey Zakarian is a chef I follow and actually make some of his recipes so when I learned he was the one changing afternoon tea in The Palm Court I searched to see what changes he made. I did find his menu etc but it is such fun to see your photos of actually being there and what was served.

Loved Peyton’s smiles enjoying “The Eloise” experience and am really looking forward to seeing your photos of the regular tea food served .

Happy for you that they also had your GF choices.
