DAR Celebrating Constitution Week

Above, the mayor declared September 17 - 23 as
Constitution Week in Berea.
DAR chapters throughout the USA are having these proclamations
signed by their mayors, county judges, Governors, and the President
to celebrate the Constitution of the U.S.
Constitution Day is observed each year on September 17 to commemorate
the signing of the Constitution on September 17, 1787.
Our chapter will join many other groups and individuals across the nation with the
"ringing of the bells"  at 4:00 P.M.
In addition the above display will be the Madison County Public Library in Berea
with a bookmark giveaway.
The bookmarks have the Preamble on them.
Preamble to the Constitution of the United States of America
"WE THE PEOPLE of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

What an interesting endeavor! I like to see your participation in so many civic and patriotic events.

Oh, Linda---something so nice just happened. Since all this renovation and clutter and chaos began in March, and all the months of nothing-in-place, we've just now got completely settled and house-to-rights. I've been losing my words, forgetting the next sentence I was going to write, etc., and it really had me worried. I'd have a head full of ideas and complete, ready sentences over the dishpan, and then they were gone like trying to catch hold of those last wisps of an early-morning dream.

I scrolled down to the Preamble just now, read across, fixed my eyes on the word UNION, and recited every word of the rest! I know it's a silly thing, but it was like a wonderful light in my recovering brain, to be able to call up such a tiny bit of long-ago-learned history.

Don't mind me---every little bit helps.
