Spring Break 2015 - Neuschwanstein Castle

We awoke to find a light snow at our hotel near Munich.
We began our travels to our first destination,
Neuschwanstein Castle sitting above the village of Hohenschwangau.
The scenery of the Bavarian countryside on the drive to
the castle was delightful.

It was a one mile walk from the village up the hill to the castle.
The Neuschwanstein Castle was built by Ludwig II of Bavaria
in the 19th century.  It has appeared in several movies and has
been said it was the inspiration of Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty castle.

Some of the group rode the horse-drawn wagon down
the one mile trail.
I walked it up (barely) and back down.
The yellow castle at the village was the home of
the parents of Ludwig II of Bavaria.

I purchased this tea mug in the gift shop.
The design on the mug is the same as was on
fabrics in the castle.  Ludwig II aka "The Fairytale Prince"
had swans made into woodwork trim, door handles and much more.
