Day 7 - Gluten Free Afternoon Tea at The Plaza

The Plaza Hotel, founded in 1907, is listed on the Register of Historic Places 
and is the only New York City hotel to be designated as a National Historic Landmark.
Since 1999, the hotel has been managed by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts. 
The hotel closed and underwent a major restoration 2002 - 2007.
We've enjoyed afternoon tea several times at The Palm Court  before and after 2007.
 I was aware and somewhat prepared for the changes to The Palm Court made under the direction of Food Network Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian, the new culinary director at the hotel. 
In addition to new furniture and china is large circular bar in the middle of The palm Court.
  The background music was recorded. 
In my opinion, it has lost the feeling of old world elegance.  No white table cloths, tables have mirror tops and new china special-made for the hotel. See photo below. 

Glenn drank Earl Grey, Austin had Jasmine Pearl, and I enjoyed Silver Needles. 

Warm scones were wrapped in a napkin on the bottom tier. 
Cream, lemon curd, and jam were on the table. 
Five gluten free sandwiches. on the middle tier. 
Gluten free sweets on the top tier. 
We have been visiting The Plaza since the 1980's.
