Afternoon Tea at the NYC Peninsula

We were pleased we were able to have afternoon tea at the NYC Peninsula Hotel,
Gotham Lounge on July 4th.  We enjoyed afternoon tea at the hotel several
years ago before becoming gluten free.  When I contacted them, they said
they could accommodate gluten free. (YAY!)

Our table was reserved and set when we arrived after
a few blocks walk from the Radio City Music Hall.

I know it's not proper etiquette, but I always peek at the bottom of the china.
Below: Glenn's beautiful and delicious Traditional Afternoon Tea
(Double-click on the menu above to read the lovely descriptions)

I almost forgot to take a photo of the jam, clotted cream and lemon curd.
And, his pastries.
The gluten free sandwiches and desserts were brought on serving plates.
Austin and I had the same four amazing and delicious  sandwiches, except ours were gluten free.
I chose the Peninsula Blend Tea
Austin had the Kenyan Sunrise TGFOP
and Glenn selected the Earl Grey

Below is my plate of gluten free sweets.  We didn't have scones,
but it was fine, because I put a dab of cream and curd on my Madeleines.
The small glass held a peach "something", tiny peach slices in a syrup.
We didn't have a written GF menu.
While sitting at tea on this last day of our vacation, we rated
our tea experiences during the trip. Our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd afternoon teas
were unanimous, but confidential, between the three of us.
In addition, Glenn and Austin thoroughly enjoyed the two
tea houses in Maine, and learning about the Gaiwan brewing method.

We have so many special memories from Summer Vacation 2016.

A lovely tea to conclude your trip! (And I'd look at the bottom of the china, too)

Afternoon tea while on a vacation always provides special memories. I like the modern yet elegant tea table at the Peninsula. Have to admit...I look at the bottom of the china too. I'm sure most teacup collectors do. :)

Tea time just makes a vacation all the more special and this one does look very special. I loved reading the menu too. What a good idea for remembering exactly what was eaten. I peek too!
