Day 1 - New York City

After a lot of thought and family discussion, we all decided
our summer vacation should be within the USA and someplace
cooler than home.  We settled on an interesting and unique 10-day travel itinerary.
First stop: New York City to attend shows of Austin's choice, shop, and have afternoon tea.
No sightseeing this trip!  Just relax and enjoy the city and what it has to offer.
We arrived on Sunday, June 26th, and stayed at the
Marriott Marquis on Times Square where we've stayed numerous times.
 First stop after checking in:
Our three kids favorite restaurant on Times Square,
and Austin's choice on this trip, Guy's American Kitchen.
Austin ordered the Dragon Chili Cheese Fries to start.
We knew from previous visits, we could eat gluten free at
Guy Fieri's. (my salmon below)
I just felt a little guilty without Peyton and Kaitlyn on this trip.
Later, after shopping we went to Junior's for late night cheesecake.
After a delicious breakfast on Monday morning we walked to the
Museum of Modern Art.
Walking around NYC is a highlight of our travel to the city.
The temperatures were in the low 80's and no rain during this visit.
Next post: Afternoon Tea #1

Welcome to New York!!

Heat/humidity is not always conducive to Afternoon Tea, but at least you'll probably get a table (and thankfully there's a/c)

Alice's Tea Cup and Tea and Sympathy are my go-to's, but Bosie, Kings Carriage House and many, many hotels do Afternoon Tea quite well. Enjoy!

I love just taking in the ambiance of a city when traveling. We did a bit of that this past trip. Sounds like there was a lot of food on day one. The salmon looks delcious.
