Two Nights in Portland

We departed Bar Harbor on Saturday and drove back to Portland
where we checked into a suite hotel located in Old Port,
a fun area of hotels, restaurants and shops on the historic waterfront.
We ate a very late lunch and went to Bam Bam Bakery, the most amazing
Gluten Free Bakery we have ever visited for a to-go box of nibbles
we ate for our supper.  We were so excited, we forgot to take photos.
Sunday morning we took a cruise from the harbor by five lighthouses
and other scenic areas.

After Austin and I discovered we could not eat the provided
breakfast buffet at the hotel
(gluten-filled scrambled "eggs" and "sausage", waffles, etc.),
we walked to the famous Holy Donut, and thoroughly enjoyed
the gluten free Maple Glazed Donuts for our breakfast, prior to the cruise.

In addition to all their regular donuts, they had FOUR types of gluten free donuts,
and a long line of customers out the front door!
 Oh my, delicious!
How I wish we could easily find GF foods everywhere we travel!
Thank goodness for the "FIND ME GLUTEN FREE" app on my iPhone!
It is gluten free traveler's life saver!
After the morning cruise and lunch, we enjoyed the trolley tour of Portland, Maine.

We had dinner at a very busy waterfront restaurant before
walking back to the hotel.

That donut shop sounds heavenly! I'm glad you could find so many delicious gluten-free treats in Portland. And the scenery's pretty nice, too.

I love lighthouses, so fun to see these. I have a blog friend that lives in Maine and sometimes also shares the lighthouses. How I would love to visit there and include that donut shop. A gluten free app would be great.
