Breakfast and Departure

A big breakfast is my absolute favorite meal of the day when traveling.
Unfortunately, due to my gluten intolerance, I can't eat powdered eggs (have you ever wondered
what is in them to make them so fluffy?),
sausage with fillers,  and waffles, cereals and bagels served at our previous breakfasts.
I was thrilled to be able to order "real" eggs from the amazing breakfast menu at
The Grand Hotel.  They also served a fabulous buffet.
I told the server I didn't want cinnamon crumble or anything sweet on my grits.
I also told him I am from the south and I eat my grits southern-style with
salt and butter.  Wow!  Just look at the butter on my grits!
I also ordered an omelette and gluten free toast.
We had the same server from dinner the night before,
and the service was excellent!
Several of the ladies commented they felt like they were on a cruise while at The Grand.
In addition to the amazing views of the lake, the hotel is on the Modified American Plan
meaning the fixed sum rate includes, room, dinner, lunch or breakfast and all gratuities.
~
Before departing the hotel, Nancy and I walked around the hotel,  and
enjoyed the panoramic view from the Cupola Bar at the very top of the hotel.
I remembered being there years ago..

I really must go back there soon with my husband - it's been entirely too long.

Your views are spectacular and the breakfast sure makes me wish I had time for a nice big breakfast other than coffee myself, haha.

Your trip was magical - it's been awesome reading up on it. I bet your tea friends really loved every single second of this incredible Michigan Tea Tour! Just WOW!

I am so glad the Island had food you were able to enjoy. So many times on the trip, I felt bad that you weren't able to enjoy the same quality of food the rest of us were.
Sips and Smiles,
Teresa

You and I are alike regarding the grits. I definitely think cinnamon and/or sugar on grits is near blasphemy! Glad the Grand Hotel was able to make them correctly for you. ;)

Perfect grits! After all of your posts and lovely pictures, I think I need a little getaway to this hotel too.
