Spring Break 2017 - Day 5 - Normandy, France

Our rainy morning on April 4th began with bus ride to the
amazing Caen-Normandie Memorial Museum in Lower Normandy.

My favorite parts of the museum was an outside underground German Bunker
and the movie "D-Day Landings and the Battle of Normandy."
The numerous exhibits and photos were very impressive.
I hope the teenagers understood the significance of the World War II battles
of June 6, 1944 through July 24, 1944 in the immediate area.
My dad served in England and France during WWII,  and
Glenn's dad served in England, France and Germany.
He was wounded twice and received the Purple Heart.
After the museum, we visited several D-Day beaches
where bunkers and concrete barriers are still located.

Glenn and I enjoyed lunch at the beach front Hotel De Le Marine
in Arromanches-les-Bains, France.
Glenn enjoying the "French" bread at lunch.
My delicious gluten free fish and chips below.
The BCHS guidance counselor, Eef and senior English
and theater teacher, Jody with Glenn and his new hat purchase.
Austin and friends explored the pretty town.
