Transylvania University Move-in

Friday morning Glenn and Austin packed the Suburban.
Austin drove me in his car.  We stopped in Lexington for a nice gluten free brunch
at Wild Eggs on the way.
All incoming first year students has an appointment time.
Wow!  The unloading took about 60 seconds.
Students, faculty and staff carried all of Austin's things to the hall just outside
his room on second floor.
The unpacking and decorating was easy after the two dads
determined the best way to arrange the furniture in the tight space.

I forgot to take photos of Nathan's side of the room where the
two closets and built-in chests with a large shared mirror are located.
The first year students (they aren't called freshmen) are divided
into groups with an upper class student as leaders.
Orientation for parents and students began with dinner Friday evening.
Parents returned for more orientation on Saturday and the student
induction ceremony. Transy is a very historic small university.
We estimated 250 to 300 students took part.
 One last selfie below.
And, thanks to roommate Nathan's mom, I have a Transylvania University Mom decal.
Orientation for students continues throughout the week before classes begin 9/5.

It's so nice when there are people to help with the unloading. When my youngest was a freshman at Oglethorpe Univ. in Atlanta, the upperclassmen (and women) were lined up to help unload the cars. It makes for a warm and friendly welcome! I'm sure Austin will thrive in his college situation, you've given him such a great foundation.

Sounds like it was a great experience, and I look forward to reading of Austin's accomplishments there!
